There’s no way you’re going to bring your belongings with you when it’s time for you to meet your maker. When you die, the assets that you worked so hard for are going to stay stuck on this planet, which would no longer be of any use to you. A selfish individual would “torch” all of his goods, thinking if he can’t have it, then nobody can have it.
That’s just plain wrong – the better and more logical approach would be to come up with an estate plan. Estate planning is where you entrust everything you own onto certain individuals of your choice (preferably your family). When they say everything, that means absolutely everything, like your cars, house, stocks, bank accounts, land, all of which you own.

Coming up with an estate plan is crucial if you wanna make sure that your beneficiaries don’t get bothered with plenty of requirements when settling your estate. The process can be pretty complicated for a rich numb skull or for even average people like you, but there’s no need to worry about anything – why? Because there are estate planning lawyers out there that you can always hire to make things easier for you.
But does having this kinda lawyer insure that everything comes into play smoothly? In some sense it does, but having hired the best estate planning lawyer you can come across would be a wiser choice; with him, he’ll make things slicker than snot a door knob. With so many of “his” kind out there, how will you know whether or not he’s good for getting the job done? Simple – there are “guidelines” which can help you identify the good attributes the attorney should have, which we’ll be discussing here: first and foremost, an estate planning lawyer should be professional.
Being state-licensed and having an endless list of work experience isn’t the only thing you should be looking for. He should “appear” and actually take the job seriously. The work chemistry between the both of you must be compatible. He must also be capable of counseling and giving you proper advice on the subject matter, but still respect your opinions and wishes.
A real pro is also a good listener, open-minded to what you have to say, and take it into consideration before replying to your statements and questions. In some way, you should be able to think of him as your “friend”, helping you out in the best way he possibly can.
Next attribute a good estate planning lawyer should have is commitment, in the sense that he takes his job seriously, as well as his clients. When dealing with the other individuals involved with your estate plan, such as your accountant and investment advisor (if any), he shouldn’t be overlooking some details.
Every point that can take affect on the affectivity of the plan should be taken into close care and worked out accordingly. Lastly, your estate planning lawyer should be ethical. We’re talking about the distribution of everything you own, so it’s only natural that the guy you hire can be trusted and be counted upon.
The advice he gives must be legal and moral – watch out for those that don’t. These 3 attributes must be possessed by the attorney you hire in order to ensure everything works out fine.
